The backup routine we wish every customer had
Data recovery is expensive and never guaranteed. A simple two-part backup habit prevents almost every heartbreaking phone call we take.

The hardest conversations we have aren't about broken computers. They're about photos. Someone brings in a machine with fifteen years of family pictures on a single drive, and that drive has stopped answering.
Two copies, two places
- An automatic cloud backup — OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud, Backblaze. Pick one and let it run.
- An external drive you plug in once a month and then unplug again.
Unplugging matters. A backup drive that lives permanently attached to your computer can be encrypted by ransomware right alongside the original.
Test it once
Open your backup and actually look at a file. A backup nobody has ever restored from is a hope, not a plan.
If a drive has already failed, stop using it and bring it in. Continuing to power up a failing drive can make recovery harder. We'll tell you what we find — no honest shop can promise data back.
